Style of painting
The artist duo Daniëlle Verschuren and Jan van de Loo have been painting together since 2018.
The way they work is that Jan van de Loo is often the creator of the subjects. Then they decide together how this should be depicted. The composition is very important but also the story they want to tell must be clear, and also an attractive image to look at. Jan van de Loo then makes a sketch. Based on this, Daniëlle Verschuren transfers the sketch to canvas with acrylic paint after which she works it out. They always continue to consult while painting.
They work with acrylic on linen because this is the medium they prefer.
The work of Verschuren and van de Loo consists of original works and giclees.
The name for their style of painting is the “New Classic Art” movement.
This means that they paint in a traditional way but with a modern touch. Realistic images but with a certain structure of lines. This structure of lines is reflected in all their works. This is their signature, as it were. This makes their work very recognizable and very original.
In terms of images, besides the somewhat commercial work such as portraits, they also make works with a story behind them. These stories are events that are happening in this society now.
The pandemic is of course visible in a number of paintings, but a recurring theme is that nowadays it is all about money. In construction, the pharmaceutical industry, in art. They show this absurdity to make people more aware of it.
In addition to the original works, they make giclees and reproductions on handmade paper.
The giclees are high-quality prints of their original works. These are printed on canvas which is then stretched and painted. The painting is important to them to create more depth and therefore no copy is exactly the same.
The giclees can be made in different sizes.
They are sold in an edition of 50 pieces with a certificate of authenticity.
The reproductions are high-quality prints on handmade paper. They are available framed in the format 21 x 30 cm or 20 x 20 cm, depending on the size of the image.
These are sold in an edition of 250 pieces.
